The speaker will share her professional and personal life experiences and insights from becoming the first engineer in her family to the first woman to be appointed Secretary and CEO of the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation and Public Works. Her presentation includes a roadmap to her success including college internship preparation, early career success in the federal government, and pivoting to consulting and leading a state government agency. Her career in civil engineering has been a diverse combination of transportation engineering, land development, marketing, business development, administration, and government executive leadership. She will also discuss how she maximized her membership in SWE and other professional organizations for her leadership and personal growth as well as creating a global network full of opportunities to promote STEM for girls, specially Latinas and minorities.
