In this session we present several real-world, challenging scenarios that employees may face while interacting with their peers in the workplace. Each scenario describes a case where one employee is showing subtle levels of disrespect or bias towards another. Typically, the actions taken by the offending employee are not overtly offensive and may not even be at first understood to be problematic. These situations are, unfortunately, far too common. The session will walk the audience through each scenario, discuss the adverse impact that one employee's actions and words might have on the other, and offer constructive, positive approaches for improving future interactions through self-advocacy.
Learning Objectives:
Identify cases where employees may be demonstrating unconscious bias or microaggressions towards their peers.
Understand the impact that subtle problematic behaviors can have on the morale, self-confidence, and productivity of affected parties.
Explain how to self-advocate for a respectful work environment and thus enable further career growth.
