Get ready for a journey of lived experiences of leadership in the presenters’ STEM career. The metaphor of pumps, flats, heels or sneakers will correlate to leadership styles and skills that almost anyone could relate to. These will illustrate leadership strengths needed in the boardroom, project teams, people management, mentoring/coaching, project task ownership, etc. We will dive into common leadership challenges, identify leadership traits and behaviors, and review examples of influential leaders in STEM. This connects to the tenets of effective communication in leading or participating on high performing teams. We will connect this to active listening techniques to foster collaboration and strategies for delivering constructive feedback to improve team performance. This session will motivate participants to not only grow in their current space, but also grow beyond their current space to be a “shoe in” for leadership excellence!
