Victoria Skura is a project manager, senior engineer, and design strategist at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab (APL) in Laurel, MD. She has worked there for the past 8 years, after receiving her undergrad and masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. She began her career in electronics packaging and detailed mechanical design, then pivoted to finite element analysis for blast and impact modeling, and most recently shifted her career to human centered design. She regularly practices skills for design thinking and facilitation and is driven by her curiosity and passion. Her current work is as a project manager in support of Navy funded front end of innovation projects. While following her passions, she volunteers her time supporting the employee resource group for women at APL, mentoring high school students in STEM and sustainability, and leads an APL network of researchers impacting climate change in their work.
