Melanie Cummings-Grande is an aerospace engineer at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. She works for the Mars Architecture Team doing decision analysis, mission design, and systems analysis for human exploration of Mars. She also serves as a local Langley team lead. Throughout her career, Mrs. Cummings-Grande has contributed to architecture analysis for both Moon and Mars exploration as well as strategic analysis for the agency.
In recognition of her contributions to the agency, Mrs. Cummings-Grande is the recipient of multiple group achievement honor awards and of NASA’s Silver Achievement Medal. Mrs. Cummings-Grande is also an active member and past leader of the Allies and Advocates for Women (A2W) Employee Resource Group at NASA Langley and is a passionate advocate for DEIA.
Melanie started at NASA as a Pathways co-op student in 2016 and joined full-time after graduating with a B.S. and M.S. from Purdue University in Aerospace Engineering.
