Dr. Willie Mae Reese earned her B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from UC Berkeley. In her graduate studies, she helped to enable and model organ-on-a-chip and textured cell culture platforms. Through her knowledge of lithography, she became a semiconductor process engineer at Intel after graduating. She joined Apple’s Materials Product Design team in 2021.
Her interest in Materials Science started at MIT when she realized the techniques the field leverages and their ubiquitous applications. As a black women in engineering, Willie Mae is passionate about educating the next generation of women engineers about the possibilities of where engineering can take them.
