Gheissa Landaeta

Gheissa Landaeta is a petroleum engineer who has 20 years of experience specializing in reservoir and drilling engineering. For the first 15 years of her career, she worked as a reservoir engineer in the Orinoco Oil Belt in Venezuela, where she was responsible for assessing projects that would provide value to her company and home country. During this time, she also achieved her Master’s Degrees in Exploration and Finance, while raising two young girls. In 2020, Gheissa made the courageous decision to pivot her career and begin working as a drilling engineer in the Gulf of Mexico for bp. This not only required her to upskill to a different technical discipline mid-career, but also to move her family to a new country and new language. Her journey to take ownership of her career has provided her with new technical challenges to tackle, as well as future opportunities for her family.
