Women of Color in Engineering Collaborative
Kenashia Thompson (she/her) is the Programs Manager for the Women of Color in Engineering Collaborative, where she drives impactful programs designed to empower women of color. In this role, she oversees the Inspiring Leaders Profiles Database, Webinars, Resource Center, and Travel Stipend Program, strategically enhancing visibility and opportunities for the group. A Southerner, Kenashia brings her passion for equity and justice, working alongside subject-matter experts to challenge and disrupt heteronormative systems.
Before joining SWE, Kenashia led national grassroots organizing efforts, preventing and ending youth homelessness for QTBIPOC. With a diverse skill set including grassroots organizing, political advising, project management, fundraising, research, and strategy, Kenashia holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Winthrop University (SC) and an interdisciplinary master’s degree in Religion, Ethics, and Politics from Harvard University (MA). At Harvard, her scholar-practitioner research centered on Womanist Ethics, Black Liberation, and Grassroots Organizing, deepening her commitment to systemic change.
