Taya Cassens received her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and holds master's degrees in both mechanical engineering and systems engineering from the University of St. Thomas. Currently, she is a Senior Principal Biomedical Engineer, focusing on the development of new technologies for cardiac implantable devices. Throughout her career, Taya has been involved in various stages of the product development lifecycle across multiple industries. She has worked on military products for Cummins Power Generation, deep brain stimulation devices, heart valves, and cardiac implantables for Medtronic, and contributed to the development of the Watchman FLX Pro device at Boston Scientific. Her primary focus areas include defibrillation devices and diagnostic devices. Taya is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Minnesota and has been an active member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) since her college days.
