Courtney Montague is a Systems Engineering Manager for the Future Positioning Navigation
and Timing (FPNT) team within Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector. This team is part
of the Emerging Capabilities Development (ECD) business unit which pushes the boundaries of
innovation, redefines capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Courtney is
currently located in Woodland Hills, CA.
As a Systems Engineering Manager in the FPNT organization Courtney is responsible for a
team of Principal Investigators and Systems Architects, whose backgrounds span Inertial
Navigation, GPS Receiver and Waveform Development, and Timing Technologies. In addition to
her management role, Courtney works as an Embedded Software Developer using MATLAB
and Simulink to develop, test, and autogenerate proprietary navigation software.
Most recently, Courtney worked as a Systems Engineering Lead on Northrop Grumman’s
Sentinel Program, developing Simulink models of navigation control systems. Prior to this role,
Courtney worked as a Network Engineer on Northrop Grumman’s Ground-Based Mid-Course
Defense (GMD) program.
Courtney currently serves as the sector Pride in Diversity Alliance (PrIDA) Co-Chair and as a
member of the sector Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) council. As sector Co-Chair of
PrIDA, Courtney is responsible for sharing best practices and inclusivity for LGBTQ+ employees
across all Mission Systems sites. As a member of the DE&I council, Courtney works to promote
mentorship, volunteering, and awareness to proactively improve the workforce's climate, well-
being, and diversity.
Courtney graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of
Kentucky in 2019 and a Masters Degree in Software Engineering with an focus in Artificial
Intelligence and Machine Learning from Auburn University in 2023.
