Operation Outreach: A Workshop With the Society's Outreach Committee

Not all SWE members are aware of the work being done at the Society level to support outreach and student success. This session serves as a quick and fun way for you to get to know their outreach/SWENext resources, to meet SWE leaders, and to brainstorm creative outreach efforts with your brand-new networks. The session starts with an overview of the outreach/SWENext committees (what they do and key contacts). Next, we dive into the workshop. The audience is split into teams of ~five and thrown into a hypothetical scenario where each team is an outreach committee who has just 15 minutes to develop an outreach event and submit it for a grant. After time is up, the teams have one minute to pitch their plans before all attendees vote (judging using a short rubric). Winners will be put in contact with the Outreach Committee chair and encouraged to implement your idea!
