This session, led by SWE members and staff of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), focuses on effective STEM advocacy at the state level. Participants will learn strategies for engaging with state legislators and policymakers to advance STEM education and workforce development initiatives. The session will cover key advocacy tools, such as crafting persuasive messages, organizing grassroots efforts, and building relationships with decision-makers. Attendees will also hear both success stories and challenges from SWE's section level advocacy efforts and gain insights into how they can contribute to shaping policies that support women and underrepresented groups in STEM fields. In addition, learn about new training and resources the Society is launching later this year to support grass root advocacy efforts.
