Retired Retired Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
Rise to the next level in advocacy by planning and executing a mini “Capitol Hill Day” in your home state. Members of the SWE-Central New Mexico Section will provide guidance and pointers to organize a visit to your state capital while it is in legislative session to bring name recognition to and awareness of the fantastic outreach, recognition, and advancement work your SWE section provides to women engineers in the state. If there is legislation pending that is of interest to SWE members, you can also use this opportunity to promote it with your elected officials. We can’t determine the exact parameters to arrange meetings and visits in your own state, but we can give you a blueprint to follow to build your own plan that works for your state and your section.
Learning Objectives:
Describe a blueprint and guidelines to organize an advocacy event at your state capital.
Analyze the advantages and challenges of including partners in your advocacy event.
Discuss the benefits of advancing SWE's advocacy agenda at the local level.
