Black women are holding their breath every day in the office as STEM professionals. We are waiting for the day to breathe, feel valued, and be heard. We produce great work, but we are not seen. All women are fighting on an everyday battle in this male-dominated industry, but our fight is grand, because we are represented in less than three percent in the STEM industry.
This workshop will help other women relate with our story and, most importantly, hear our story and learn how to be an ally and support us. Discover how to advocate alongside Black women to increase the number of Black women in STEM and learn how representation and mentoring can help increase not only the number of Black women in the STEM industry, but the return on investment (ROI) that companies that invest in DEI&B receive from investing in these initiatives.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the return on investment (ROI) benefits of an inclusive workplace.
Discuss the importance of mentoring and the effects mentoring has on increasing the number of Black women in STEM careers.
