As an individual with an established career, making the transition into a new technical field can be incredibly risky, but also potentially transformative to your long-term success and job satisfaction. Making such a complex decision for your own career requires courage and self-determination. In this session, Gheissa will share her experience pursuing new opportunities as a drilling engineer after spending 15 years in the subsurface as a reservoir engineer. She managed this transition by leveraging her solid engineering background and capacity to plan with a healthy curiosity to develop new technical skills. By the end of the session, attendees will be able to map out how to take ownership of their own career development, regardless of their years of experience or technical background. By sharing her story, Gheissa hopes to empower others to take risks in their careers and reach new levels of personal and professional growth in the process.
