Many women in academic positions participate in SWE to support the next generation of engineers. If you traveled to WE24 with a crew of collegians, this session is for you! Our panelists are faculty advisors to SWE collegiate sections and affiliates, but also have established their own place within SWE for personal and professional growth. They found community, support and opportunities within the Women in Academia Committee, Affinity Groups, and professional sections. They serve in diverse SWE committees and programs to provide an academic perspective on initiatives, such as growing the SWE pipeline, responding to public policies, advising university accrediting bodies, and partnering with international academic institutions. They have been recognized through SWE awards and earned grant money for initiatives aligned with SWE’s missions. Our panelists will share how SWE participation has strengthened their own academic career paths and will remind audience members that SWE is for all of us!

Identify places where faculty advisors can find community within SWE to engage with both academics and non-academics.
Recognize SWE initiatives that need participation from academic members.
Describe opportunities for faculty members to be recognized or receive monetary support through SWE.
